Heatwave – URGENT Call To Action for Solidarity With Unhoused Neighbors

Dear Comrades,

Forecasts are in the 100s for many County areas Saturday through Monday, and no cooling stations or civic relief has been announced by officials as of this writing.

We believe An Injury To One Is An Injury To All and there is no time like the present to highlight how capitalism harms the working class (housing deficit, climate change, redlining) and how socialism promotes care and community.

Please call, text, and/or email RIGHT NOW per below to show class solidarity. Keep your demands simple: e.g., cooling shelters, water availability, and/or suspension of SODA (stay out of drug areas).

P.S. Here’s a half-page graphic flyer on Heat Exhaustion vs Heat Stroke to hand out with cold sports drinks, waters, socks, bandanas etc. when you see comrades fund-raising on street corners and parking lots. Take care, and remember to ask permission, if possible, before calling 911 on anyone’s behalf.
